Good cooking is an art form, an expression of the chef.
I’ve always been “artistic,” in high school I was accepted into the North Carolina’s School of the Arts. I was going to go to college for graphic arts but my path in life took me elsewhere.
I didn’t always cook, like most things in my life I fell into it.
I currently work for a major TV network as a foreign news producer. I love my job, but anyone in the journalism business knows you will burn out one day… it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. Most people move on to management or easier gigs. After I fell into journalism I knew I wanted to do foreign news, I’ll put my time in and move on to something else.
Cooking is my something else. When I worked in local TV I was having such a hard time getting used to my overnight schedule. I was burning out fast and I knew I needed to find a creative outlet. Slowly, cooking has become that outlet for me.
This blog is about my journey in cooking, my attempt to teach myself the art of cooking so that one day in the future (whenever that might be) I can pick up my knives and say I’m ready for a change.
